Walk and Talk on Land
Stewardship (Oct 11)
WPLT and the the
Natural Lands Trust co-sponsored a guided walk around the trails of the beautiful 89-acre
Binky Lee Preserve. Darin Groff, preserve manager, provided a walking
lecture on what it takes to manage and restore
land, how the Binky Lee preserve meadows and woodlands were
re-established, and shared techniques for managing invasive plants.

Sale (May 10)
WPLT hosted it’s first
ever plant sale on Saturday, May 10. The sale took place at the Binky
Lee Preserve as part of its annual Spring Celebration. A combination
of colorful bedding plants, hanging baskets and perennials were provided
by Pickering Valley Farm and Feed and the sale raised money to support
land preservation and protection in West Pikeland.
Naturalized Landscapes
Workshop (March 15)
A workshop entitled
Nature’s Bounty: Creating and Enhancing Naturalized Landscapes, was
held on Saturday, March 15,
co-sponsored by WPLT and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. The
workshop was led by Eva Monheim, certified arborist and instructor at
Temple University Ambler. It focused on the opportunities to use native
plants and shrubs as a way to address landscape management issues and
enhance wildlife habitats. Refreshments were served and complimentary
plants were provided to all attendees by Pickering Valley Feed and Seed.
