Open Space Update
WPLT and West Pikeland
Township preserved 61 acres during the first
half of 2009 through purchased conservation easements on
three major West Pikeland properties. In addition to protecting the
properties from future subdivision and development, the easements
provide recreational opportunities through public trail access, and
protect scenic views, historic settings, clean water, agricultural
lands, and wildlife habitat.

Press Release
The
West Pikeland Board of Supervisors approved the conservation
prioritization mapping system proposed by the
Open Space Advisory
Committee. The system, compiled by Natural
Lands Trust, will help focus land protection efforts in West Pikeland. This
system is based on
regional and local township data and will help the Open Space Advisory
Committee and the Board of Supervisors allocate West Pikeland's open
space funds to properties ranking highest in conservation values.
